Some animals leave little paw prints on our hearts.
Amore left tiny, gentle quill marks—soft, brave, unforgettable.
She wasn’t just our first hedgehog in twenty years.
She was the one who reminded us how to love them all over again.
🌸 Meet Amore: A Brave Little Explorer
From the moment we brought her home, Amore lived up to her name.
She was curious, affectionate, and absolutely determined to do things her way.
She loved:

Being held close, resting quietly in our hands
-
Rearranging her entire enclosure each night
-
Dunking her treat bowl in her water (we still don’t know why—it was just her “thing”)
Amore had a way of teaching us—without saying a word—how to slow down, observe, and listen to the needs of an animal who communicated through huffs, blinks, and gentle stillness.
She truly taught us everything we know about caring for hedgehogs with presence, patience, and heart.
🦔 Her Final Journey
In her final months, Amore faced her biggest challenge: cancer.
Despite that, she remained bright-eyed and resilient, full of the same quiet strength she always carried.
But in late November, her body began to struggle under the weight of pneumonia. Her lungs filled with fluid. The spark in her little eyes began to dim. Surrounded by love and snuggled in comfort, we made the heartbreaking but merciful decision to let her go peacefully.
Amore crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 30, 2024.
💛 What She Left Behind
Though her time with us was too short, her impact was immeasurable.

She reminded us that the tiniest creatures can hold the biggest pieces of our hearts.

She reignited our passion for hedgehog care, which has grown into everything Setareh Hedgehogs is today.

And she showed us that love, real love, is found in the quietest moments—like a gentle cuddle after a long day or watching her burrow herself perfectly into her snuggle sack.
🕯️ Lighting a Candle for Amore
As summer approaches and life speeds up, we’re taking a moment to pause and remember our girl.
Today we light a candle.
For her joy.
For her bravery.
And for the space she’ll always hold in our hearts.
“You were my once-in-a-lifetime hedgehog. Thank you for teaching me how to begin again.”
Amore, we miss you more than words can say.
Thank you for everything you gave us. You’ll always be our girl.
